Saying he did not want to break an election promise, New Zealand legislator Keith Locke will run naked through an Auckland suburb. Locke, a member of the Green Party, stated publicly that he would run through the streets naked if right-wing candidate Rodney Hide won a seat in Parliament. Hide was considered a long-shot candidate but won in Saturday’s elections.
Locke said no date had yet been set for the dash, because of various preparations that had to be made. “We’ve got preparations to do in terms of choreography,” he said. “It will be artistic and it will involve body paint.”
A local business association said it would help make plans for the event, including clearing a path and warning the “faint-hearted.”
UPDATE: He ran, but wasn’t really naked. Yet another broken promise from a politician.
