Young Roberts was considering a graduate degree in history, his favorite subject, when Jack Roberts, his strong-willed father, reportedly told him, “Real men study law.” Isn’t that one of the unlikeliest four-word sentences in the English language? Check for yourself: A Google search turns up more than 3 million results for the phrase “real men”; but in the entire searchable history of humankind, Jack Roberts is the only person ever to utter the phrase, “Real men study law.”
