Beverly Campbell objected to being stopped by police on September 23, for allegedly driving the wrong way down a one-way street. Campbell, who is 61 and had just left a party at a local community center, was arrested after assaulting an officer with her leftovers from the party. She threw a plate of chicken wings at him, hit him in the neck with a two-liter bottle of Coke, and followed up with some fists to the face.
I find that cops will normally tolerate being beaned with an appetizer or two, but they draw the line at being punched in the face.
Campbell has been charged with misdemeanor battery, felony assault, and also with inciting a riot, apparently having "attempted to incite onlookers to help her with her assault." It was not reported how many other 60-year-olds joined the riot, but two other partygoers were arrested on "various charges."
The officer was said to be "recovering from his injuries."
